Shattered III (center panel) pencil drawing

Drawing on hotpress wc board

I have changed my concept or simplified its presentation. It will work more like a classical triptych; large center drawing and two somewhat “mirrored” images on each side. I posted the left side a month ago one of the pair of “smashed” bulbs. (see gallery) The wires of these bulbs point out from the center image, which is larger and has a stabilizing effect. The outside images are 8” x 8” the center drawing is 8” x 16” I will post the whole triptych as soon as I can get a good shot of it together. In a very lose and abstract way it speaks to the biblical crucifixion.

Thanks for Looking

Nimra

It's been some time since I have been able to feast my attention on what you have been presenting to the deviant community, I must admit I have never tried to draw glass before of any kind.
Seeing your art of the transparent reflective sorts is absolutely stunning, my hats off to you once again.
Thanks for sharing. 8-)

This is an excellent concept and unique, I do believe that the level of pencilship, if there is such a word is most impressive.

(Ah, a delayed comment, but I've been meaning to get to this)

Might I say, I am impressed with your ideas you are putting forth with your lightbulb drawings. I am looking foward to seeing the all of your pieces together in quite an interesting concept. On that note, I like the concept, even though I cannot visualize it yet (sadly), but the idea still sounds intreging.

This drawing is no doubt as realistic as many of your other works. Here though, you express a very simple sight, but still project it to be quite mesmorizing. Of course, you really can't stare deeply into this piece, as there is not much to see other than what is there, but you have to appreciate it nonethless.

You, no doubt, can express realism with your pencil to make it look photographic, as you have done before and have been told many times. I appreciate this piece just becuase it is sort of symbolic just by itself, expressing the mood that you can still maintain realism in these drawings. You project here the visage of a simple light bulb, but allow the eye to be fooled and make the mind think that this is actually taking place right now. As if you have captured a living moment in this light bulbs' tradgic demise, and you are sharing it with the viewer. That is what makes your drawings so wonderful also, is the fact that you can capture brief moments in time, and make them seem so unique in on their own. That is why I think your light bulb concept will be amazing to see, as you will finally piece together all of your drawings into one time idea, but different momenteous time frames.

The shadowing is what catches my eye the most, as it feels like I cannot get it correct when it faces against a wall, but you got it about perfectly. The whole drawing feels alive, no matter how simple it is. I applaud for you again, keep up the superb work. It will all come together in the end, and feel just right.

I'm mesmerized as I stare, trying to come to my own understanding of what you're trying to present to us here. I always love learning from your work. This is, of course, technically brilliant; I know it's a "simple" offering but it's so complex that I'm having just the best time studying it. Fav, of course.

That's incredibly cool! The shading is fantastic. The way you drew the reflection of the rock in the bulb makes it look far more realistic than it would look otherwise. Very nicely done! =D

I love how you can tell the different textures with the different paper/boards you're using. Many people just stick to one type since it gives them what they want; its nice to see variety with talent.
